SNR Sons Charitable Trust has a reputation of four and half decades for education and medical services. Seventeen institutions consisting of Engineering, Polytechnic, Arts and Science, Dental and Paramedical colleges in addition to Higher Secondary Schools are managed by the trust catering to 15000 students mentored by 3000 faculty. The trust has been successfully managing a 750 bedded Multispecialty Hospital since 1975 with multiple specializations in Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology and others. 

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore established in the year 1994 by SNR Sons Charitable Trust is one of the 17 institutions managed by the trust.  SREC is an autonomous institution offering 9 Undergraduate programmes in the disciplines of Aeronautical, Biomedical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Information Technology and Computer Science and Engineering.

The institution offers Nine Post Graduate programmes in Engineering and Technology with specializations of Software Engineering, Power Electronics and drives, Manufacturing Engineering, VLSI Design, Computer Science and Engineering , Embedded System Technologies, Control and Instrumentation Engineering,  Thermal Engineering and  Nanosceince and Technology, in addition to MBA.

Six of the B.E/ B.Tech programmes have been accredited and re - accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, since 2003 and two of the Post Graduate programmes are also accredited by NBA, New Delhi. The institution currently has 5000 plus students passionately mentored by 339 faculty members of whom 66  are holding Ph.D.A very good research culture exists in the campus with an average annual funding of Rs. 1 crore from various funding agencies - AICTE, DST, CSIR, DRDO etc.,  The institution is also funded through DST- FIST and DST- INSPIRE and DST- NST MIS

The departments are closely working with the industries -L&T, Bi-Metal Bearings, Roots Industries, Tech Mahindra and other companies on Consultancy, Management development programmes and collaborative projects.  The areas of collaboration include Machine Vision Systems, Finite Element Analysis, 3D Printing, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Predictive Analytics, Virtual instrumentation etc.,

The quality of the students admitted for our programmes is quite good with an opening cut off marks of 196.5 and closing cut off marks of 189.The students are being trained right from the second semester in communication skills. They are also given technical value addition in relevant areas of interest to make them industry ready. The internship in industries are part of the B.E/ B.Tech curricula and the students intern with the industries like – Pricol Technologies, L&T, Health Care Innovation Center- IIT Park, Paxterra Solutions, Ashok Leyland,  TAFE, TVS, Ford India Pvt. Ltd.,  and Mahindra and Mahindra  for a period of 3 to 6 months.

The placement record of the students is quite appreciable with an annual campus recruitment of about 82%.The students have been placed in premier organizations like – Saint Gobain, Sanmar group of companies, Murugappa group, L &T along with all the IT majors - Infosys, Wipro, CTS, Accenture, Tech Mahindra and so  on. The alumni working in various positions contribute to the Alma matter through a very strong alumni network and alumni chapters at Chennai and Bangalore
